How to search Delaware business records
Search the name or file number
Enter either identifier on the official search page. Name matching is not case-sensitive; use quotation marks when you want an exact name search.
Open the entity information
Select the name in the results and check the file number, formation date, and registered-agent details against the business you are researching.
Choose the right status service
If you need current status, Delaware offers a separate paid query: $10 for status or $20 for status with additional tax and history information. Neither query produces a good-standing certificate.
What to watch for
The free name-search results include active and inactive entities. Appearing in the list does not establish that a company is currently active or in good standing.

Delaware search options and record coverage
The Delaware entity-search portal accepts a file number or entity name. Names are not case-sensitive, exact searches can use quotation marks, and the public result provides name, file number, formation date, registered agent, address, phone, and residency. Corporate status can be queried separately for $10, or status with tax/history for $20; those are not official good-standing certificates. Delaware expressly prohibits mining and excessive repeated searches.
Checking a business name in Delaware
Delaware requires an entity name to be distinguishable on the Division's records from domestic and foreign corporations, LLCs, partnerships, statutory trusts, and reserved names. Delaware's LLC statute allows some cross-entity name use with written consent, but that is an exception requiring a filed consent. Punctuation, capitalization, spacing, and generic designators should not be relied on to create distinction. The formal examiner's decision and any required consent control.
Delaware name reservations
$75.00 per corporate, LLC, LP, statutory-trust, or related entity-name reservation for 120 days. Reservation is optional, but the name must be distinguishable from Delaware entities and reserved names. The applicant must provide its own name and address rather than substituting the proposed entity or a virtual registered-agent address.
DBA, trade names, and fictitious names
As of February 2, 2026, Delaware DBA/fictitious/trade names are managed through the Delaware Division of Revenue via Delaware One Stop rather than the Division of Corporations. Use https://onestop.delaware.gov/ and the Division's FAQ for the current registration/renewal fee. A trade name does not change the entity's legal name or eliminate the need for a Delaware registered agent.
