You can use part of a business name. Sunbiz lists nearby matches alphabetically, so use Previous List or Next List if the expected name is just outside the results shown.
Choose the matching record
Compare the name, document number, and status, then select the entity name. For a document-number search, use the digit zero rather than the letter O.
Open the filed documents
On the detail page, review addresses, agent information, and annual reports. Select a document from the record to open a PDF you can save or print.
What to watch for
An FEI number and a Florida document number are different identifiers. Sunbiz can associate more than one entity with an FEI number, so confirm the specific entity before relying on a match.

Users can view status, registered agent, officers/directors, annual reports, document images, and fictitious-name records. Name searches are preliminary and the site warns that entity records are public and that payment or annual-report solicitations may be scams; use only official sunbiz.org links.
Checking a business name in Florida
Florida requires entity names to be distinguishable from names on the Division's records and requires the appropriate corporate or LLC designator. Punctuation, capitalization, spacing, articles, and generic words may not establish distinguishability. A Sunbiz name search is not a final legal opinion, and a fictitious name registration does not reserve or form a corporation or LLC. Regulated words can require agency consent.
Florida name reservations
Florida's Sunbiz fee table lists $25.00 for LLC name reservation and $35.00 for corporate name reservation. The reservation is optional and should not be confused with a fictitious-name registration. The filing holds an available name under the applicable statute; the precise reservation duration and renewal rules should be confirmed on the entity-specific Sunbiz form.
DBA, trade names, and fictitious names
Florida calls a DBA a fictitious name. The state filing is $50.00 per registration and is handled through the Florida Division of Corporations: https://dos.fl.gov/sunbiz/start-business/efile/fl-fictitious-name-registration/. Registration is generally valid for five years and does not create an entity or grant exclusive trademark rights. County licensing and local business-tax receipts remain separate.
