The agent must be an eligible individual or authorized entity capable of receiving process at a physical Kansas street address; the name and address are public. A P.O. box alone is insufficient. Maintaining the appointment is a continuing condition of good standing and authority.
Kansas agent changes: forms and fees
Kansas uses a certificate or statement of change of location of registered office or resident agent. The LLC statute lists $20.00 for that document; the corporation and online BESS amounts should be confirmed for the entity type. Use https://sos.ks.gov/businesses.html and the entity's BESS record, and obtain the new agent's consent and physical Kansas address.
Resignation, notice, and effective dates
A Kansas registered agent may resign using the applicable statement and statutory notice/effective-date process; the entity must appoint a successor to avoid a vacancy. The reviewed official pages did not expose one universal 2026 resignation total for every entity type, although ordinary LLC change documents are listed at $20.00. A resignation without replacement can lead to failed service, forfeiture, and dissolution.
Consequences of a missing agent or address
Operating without a qualified Kansas registered agent or registered office can result in failed service of process, default judgments, loss of good standing, forfeiture or revocation, and administrative dissolution. Kansas may have statutory substitute-service procedures, but they do not replace the continuing appointment duty. The entity should file a change immediately and verify the public record.

Keep the accepted filing and confirm the agent or service address shown for the business. Arrange forwarding of legal notices during the change, and check which contact information will be public before supplying a home address.
