Checking a business name in Utah
Utah requires a business name to be distinguishable from names on record under the applicable business-entity law. Punctuation, capitalization, spacing, translations, and generic designators may not cure confusing similarity; Division acceptance does not grant trademark rights or approve regulated activity.
Utah name reservations
Utah name reservation is $22 under the current statutory fee schedule. The reservation period and renewal mechanics are controlled by the Division form and Utah Code; the name must be distinguishable and reservation is not trademark clearance.
